About MeHi! I'm Marie Masferrer, and this begins my 5th year as the Library Media Specialist at Nolan Middle School and my 20th year in teaching. Wow! I'm old! I have taught grades K-8 in various roles, taught teachers as an Instructional Technology Specialist, and enjoyed a brief stint as a professor at State College of Florida. This begins my 8th year in the library, and I enjoy the daily challenges it brings. My best day is when I have made my teachers' and students' lives easier. You can contact me at (941) 708-8200, x: 2075 or [email protected].
My husband and I moved to Florida in 2005, and we have enjoyed exploring and learning about Manatee County's natural wonders and many more throughout the real Florida. We love bicycling, hiking, and spending time on our beautiful Anna Maria Island. My favorite animal in the whole world is a sea turtle. If you don't have an hour, don't ask me a sea turtle question. I will talk ALL DAY! Last summer I had the unique privilege to spend the night caring for the first sea turtle tagged on the west coast of Florida. Her name is AMIE, and you can follow her travels on the Sea Turtle Conservancy website. |

I am the instructor for Broadcast Communications, better known as TV Production, at Nolan Middle School. We operate the daily news show and produce a variety of film and media to support the school and our creative outlets. For the best of Nolan, follow us on Twitter @ColtNews.
I also teach Library Media Skills, which is the class for Media Aides. These are separate from office aides. Office aides are chosen and supervised by Mr. Boice. In the library, media aides learn all functions of the library, create digital media, and support the library and teachers with daily tasks. Please see the above links for course syllabi and requirements. |

I also am the advisor for Nolan's Student Government Association. Student Government was eliminated as a class at Nolan in 2014. However, Nolan's student leaders had the vision to keep the organization intact as an extracurricular activity. Please join us for our meetings, or click the "Classes" link above for more information.
